Piranha Games just released a brand new trailer of its upcoming mech simulator MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
The trailer shows plenty of gameplay, including plenty of nitty-gritty first-person action, alongside some cinematic views from outside the hulking steel giants that we’ll be able to pilot in the game.
If you’re unfamiliar with the MechWarrior franchise, it debuted all the way back in 1989, and pretty much slid into obscurity in 2002 after MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries. Its namesake is a tabletop RPG, part of FASA’s BattleTech universe.
The BattleTech name will probably light some bulbs even if you don’t know MechWarrior itself since Harebrained Schemes recently released its popular Battletech turn-based strategy game. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is set in the same universe, but places you in direct command of a simulated mech.
Considering how much I loved the old MechWarrior games, I literally can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
You can enjoy the trailer below. If you want to see more, you can also check out another trailer from December, alongside plenty of rather spectacular gameplay.
The game was initially slated for 2018, but it has been delayed to 2019. A release date has been announced at MechCon, and it’ll come on Sept. 10, 2019, exclusively for PC.
