Shigeru Miyamoto appeared on stage today with two Mushroom Kingdom-inspired weapons to kick off Ubisoft’s E3 press event. And if Mario and weapons don’t sound like they mix, you may feel differently after you watch the trailer and gameplay videos.
Miyamoto has said that he gave his blessing to Ubisoft to create this game so long as they made “A Mario game that has never been made before.” And so far it is a game unlike any Mario title we have seen. It is going to include puzzle solving, unpredictable enemies, and turn-based combat that will team the unlikely heroes up for a number of showdowns.
This is the story of an unexpected encounter between Mario and the irreverent Rabbids. To bring order back to a splintered Mushroom Kingdom, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Yoshi team up with Rabbids heroes in a journey through four different worlds. Outwit unpredictable enemies in dynamic turn-based combat and co-op challenges, and solve puzzles along the way. Discover a feel-good and modern combat adventure designed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch™ system, playable anywhere, anytime, with anyone.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will be available on August 29, 2017 for the Nintendo Switch and can be pre-ordered now on the Rabbids website. Mario + Rabbids figures also will be available thanks to Ubicollectibles and Nintendo. At this time the figures are not available, but images have begun to surface suggesting that they may be on sale or pre-order soon. A Collector’s Edition of the game is also available and costs $99.99.
