Lost Odyssey, the critically acclaimed Xbox 360 JRPG, is now available for download on Xbox One. Previously the title was only available on Xbox One via backward compatibility if you had the disc version. Major Nelson announced the news via Twitter today, adding that Lost Odyssey will also be free to download until December 31 in celebration of backward compatibility reaching 300 titles.
In addition to Lost Odyssey Blue Dragon has also been made available for download, priced at $19.99. Both games are made by Mistwalker Studios, the development team founded by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi after leaving Square Enix.
Lost Odyssey focuses on Kaim, one of a select group immortal beings. He along with others have to face the world’s impending magical industrial revolution, and Kaim has to come to grips with his lost memories. The game used a turn-based combat system, that used timing based attacks to increase your damage. Its soundtrack is also composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu, also responsible for much of the music of the Final Fantasy series.
Lost Odyssey is one heck of a deal to get for free, and definitely a great RPG from last generation to pick up if you missed it.
With the ever growing list of backward compatible titles, are there any that you think are still missing? Would you like to see Microsoft make other games free for a time, like Lost Odyssey? Let us know down in the comments below.
