Square Enix took to the official Twitter account of its upcoming game Left Alive to showcase the motion and performance capture done for the game.
We get to see how facial expressions are captured while at the same time as motion capture via a performance capture rig. Props are also used to reproduce the scenes.

The second tweet showcases a video of the motion capture stunts themselves. Various sets of diverse sizes were prepared with environment props similar to the situation being reproduced, with the mention that the team is grateful for the physical prowess of the actors involved.

This is quite interesting, especially considering that when I first saw the game at Gamescom the facial animation appeared a bit rough. They have improved considerably in following reveals, which means that Square Enix has put quite a bit of work into polishing them.
Left Alive will release in Japan on Feb. 28, 2019, for PS4 and PC, and it’ll come west on March 5 for the same platforms.
