Hideo Kojima’s latest game is getting a next gen port via Death Stranding Director’s Cut, and the auteur game developer has shared a teaser trailer for the latest version of the game.
During the 2021 Summer Game Fest livestream held on June 10, Kojima revealed the trailer ahead of a full reveal for the port coming sometime in the near future. The trailer sees protagonist Sam Bridges in an unknown facility full of heavily-armed men and some sort of cargo. Sam seems to need to get past them, but doesn’t know how to do so safely.
He then notices a box on a nearby shelf with the word “Fragile” printed across it. He then takes it off the shelf, empties its contents out, eyeing it for several minutes. Before he can flip it over and use it like Solid Snake though, he hops into it and crouches there for several seconds before realizing how foolish of an idea it is. He then sets out to deal with the guards some other way, leaving the box alone and despondent.
It’s ridiculous, convoluted, and doesn’t reveal anything really about what Death Stranding Director’s Cut will entail. But then, that’s to be expected of a Kojima teaser trailer. On the plus side, it did look spectacular, and fans of his games will definitely want to check it out for themselves down below.
As stated above, Death Stranding Director’s Cut is slated to receive a full reveal sometime in the future, but an exact date and time hasn’t been provided yet.
In the meantime, Kojima fans can play the original Death Stranding on PlayStation 4 and PC. For more on the game and other Kojima titles in general, head to Twinfinite and search the author’s name. It’ll bring up a plethora of articles from our coverage of his work over the years.
