See How You’ll Vanquish Your Enemies in New Kingdom Come: Deliverance Trailer

Combat is king.

In the new trailer for Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Creative Director Daniel Vavra and Lead Designer Viktor Bocan of Warhorse Studios discuss the combat system. The combat looks to be complex, but accessible. Players can employ multi-directional strikes at different parts of the body, as well as parry or use shields to block enemy attacks.

When fighting, players can utilize a variety of weapons to neutralize their foes, drawing from an extensive medieval arsenal. Combatants will need to be mindful of their weapons length and weight when fighting, as heavier weapons drain more stamina, and leave players open after striking.

Stamina management looks to be an important facet of the game, with the game designers emphasizing the need for preparing in advance for combat. In addition to the swords and shields, the designers are including unarmed combat, which hopefully means I can engage in some drunken tavern fisticuffs.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an open-world RPG game taking place in medieval Bohemia. Players will take over the role of a blacksmith that survives a village massacre by invading forces. The designers are aiming for a realistic medieval experience, where players will interact with historical figures in real life locations.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is set to release on February 13 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can watch the game designers explain the combat system in more detail below.
