Kate Bishop joins Marvel’s Avengers through a new operation called Kate Bishop – Taking AIM. The War Table video defines operations as “new story experiences that can feature new playable heroes, villains, biomes, and more. Operations feature beats of new story that work together to from an arc, like a run of comics or episodes in a season of a show.”

The PlayStation Blog posting gives an idea of the story, saying:

You’ll meet Kate as she’s searching for her former mentor, Clint Barton, in her own story operation, Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop – Taking AIM. Along the way, she uncovers a huge conspiracy — time travel level huge — involving the missing Nick Fury and a terrifyingly powerful, new threat: the Super Adaptoid. She takes up the mantle of Hawkeye and joins the Avengers to get to the bottom of the mystery and save a world that doesn’t even know it’s in peril.

The character of Kate Bishop first entered comics in Young Avengers #1 in 2005. She would later take up the Hawkeye as Clint Barton had died back in Avengers #502.
