I’m on the record for being all about underpowered Switch games. I can obviously do without the shovel ware that plagued the Wii, that’s for sure, but I’ll happy accept some downgraded visuals for the opportunity to play some major AAA games on the go. So this news, discovered by Destructoid, has my attention.
Iron Galaxy, the team behind the ports for Rocket League, Skyrim and Doom, have publicly reached out to Capcom about taking on a Switch port of Monster Hunter: World.
Dear @monsterhunter team at Capcom – we understand that porting the game to Nintendo Switch is challenging (https://t.co/0JrAIQgcft) but this is exactly what @IToTheG does. Give us a shot & we won’t let you down 😉

Monster Hunter: World, like most grindy games, are perfect fit for portable consoles. Allowing you to lounge about on the couch with something like Law and Order: SVU (my go to show for having something on in the background) on the TV. However, Adam Boyes himself admits to Capcom that porting to the Nintendo Switch is “challenging” but is optimistic in his team’s ability to get the job done.
Here’s hoping Capcom is open to at least hearing Iron Galaxy out or as the Destructoid article aptly points out, doing it themselves if they haven’t started secretly doing it already. If the Switch is going to have long term success, Nintendo is either going to need to continue to go HAM with exclusives every year, or get more consistent third-party support.
