For those that have been enjoying Hitman 3 since it launched in 2021, there has been plenty of post-launch DLC to keep players busy. That will continue this year, with even more content coming our way as laid out by IO Interactive’s roadmap. One of those happens to be the new Freelancer mode for Hitman 3, but the wait will now be longer as the mode is being delayed to the second half of the year.
“As we’ve said, we’re taking some extra time to tighten the mode up and improve several elements that we think will greatly improve the gameplay experience. Whilst we work on those improvements, we’re also preparing to dive deeper into the mode and share more of what you can expect,” said IO in a new blog post.
“With all of that in mind, we’re now aiming to release the Freelancer game mode to Hitman 3 in the second half of 2022. We think it will be worth the wait.”
In its place, IO Interactive is launching a new map in the month of July instead. Ambrose Island will have an intriguing narrative, taking place before the events of Hitman 3 and fills in a few gaps from the World of Assassination storyline. You can check out Ambrose Island in the screenshot below:
Before that, the next patch due out on May 24 will contain more Featured Contracts, together with more Elusive Targets Arcade unlocks. There will also be raytracing support added as part of the patch.
