Earlier today, Halo Infinite lead narrative designer Aaron Linde revealed that he would be leaving 343 Industries for a position at Riot Games. As you can see below, the announcement was made in a rather amusing way, as he used beloved anime Neon Genesis Evangelion’s classic “on the next episode” bookend to reveal where life was taking him next.
Alongside the clever “next time on” anime announcement of his departure, Linde also posted the following statement regarding his choice to move on to Riot Games.
“Bittersweet news to report: I’m departing 343 Industries to pursue a new opportunity in 2022. It was a terrifically difficult decision; Halo Infinite will remain one of the proudest achievements of my career for the rest of my life.
I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. I want to thank my dear colleagues at 343 for making the best game I’ve ever worked on, our incredible voice cast for elevating our work in every single line delivery, and our players for joining us on this wild-ass journey. You made 2021 an incredibly special year for me.”
Linde started working for 343 Industries back in 2019. Before that, he also spent time as a content writer for Gears of War, lead writer for Battleborne, and narrative designer for Guild Wars 2: Living World. He will be joining Riot Games’ research and development division.
