Gears of War 4’s Horde 3.0 Adds Robots, Turrets, and Uglier Monsters

It's back, baby.

Gears of War 4 Multiplayer

It’s finally here, folks. Gears of War 4 was for sure going to bring back the fan favorite Horde mode, and now the Coalition has a trailer showing off what to expect from Horde 3.0.

Once again, five players are back to fight 50 waves of enemies, including the new Swarm race, and robot sentries. The further along you get, the harder it gets, and more enemies will arrive to make things even worse. Going off the look of the Swarm enemy that shoots flying drones from its back, that also means they’ll get increasingly uglier. To make things more fun for the COG, each player will take on a different role–Scout, Sniper, Heavy, Engineer, and Soldier. Engineers will be able to assemble turrets for Heavy players to use, Scouts have shotguns and will meet enemies up close and personal, that sort of thing.

The trailer ends with a special note thanking Run the Jewels for letting the Coalition use their song “Panther Like a Panther”, declaring them members of the Gears family. The song will be a part of their album RTJ3, which will be releasing later this year.

Gears of War 4 comes to the Xbox One and Windows 10 on Oct. 11. Pre-ordering gets you weapon and character skins to use in both versus and Horde mode, including Zombie Dom (ow, my heart), Old Man Marcus, and Tomorrow Anya.
