Fortnite received its bi-weekly content update this morning, adding the newly improved guided missile back into Battle Royale.
The guided missile launcher was revealed to make its return in a developer’s update video last week. The weapon was vaulted last April because players criticized it was too powerful and not fun to fight against “a near-endless barrage of highly effective explosives.” The launcher has now been regulated as more of a scouting tool with player damage decreased from 105/110 down to 74/77 damage and structure damage down from 1100 to 400.
Jetpacks also make their return in the Fly Explosives Limited-Time Mode. It is a combination between the High Explosives mode and the addition of the jetpack, vaulted last June, alongside reduced storm wait times. Unlike the guided missile that was vaulted for retooling, the jetpack was always planned to be a limited-time item when it was introduced last May and will be the same for this new mode only. Both items and the currently vaulted crossbow weapon have been added to the creative Playground mode.
Fortnite’s cooperative Save the World mode only received a new sniper rifle with the 5.1 content update today. The Spyglass Sniper Rifle will be available in the Weekly Store on Aug. 1 for one week, and is described as “an accurate, high-powered, scoped sniper rifle with a single round per magazine that kicks like a mule.”
