Final Fantasy XIV, Maidy Maidy

A few days ago, we learned that Final Fantasy XIV player Maidy Maidy passed away after battling cancer for some time.

Maidy was known as the author of the story behind the TV series and theatrical movie “Dad of Light” which focused on the game.

He was also an active Final Fantasy XIV player and leader of the Giovinezza (“Youth” in Japanese) free company on the Gungnir server.

The game’s Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida knew Maidy personally, and published a long and touching post on the official Final Fantasy XIV Developers’ Blog.

You can read how Yoshida-san introduced the post below. I will not reproduce the rest here, as I believe you should read it on the Developers’ Blog, where it was originally posted.

To the FFXIV players:

I really struggled to decide where to publish these words. This is the official FFXIV Developers’ Blog, after all, and I was torn until the very end on whether it is appropriate to post this here. But, I’m sorry – please allow me to be selfish just this one time.

We join Yoshida-san and the Final Fantasy XIV community in mourning, and we send our deepest condolences to Maidy’s family and friends.
