Final Fantasy VII Remake Sold Over 700,000 Units and Pushed PS4 Sales in Japan According to Famitsu

Today Famitsu revealed its estimates of sales for video games in Japan and they included data about the massively-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Today Famitsu revealed its weekly estimates of sales for video games in Japan and they included data about the massively-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake.

According to the magazine, the Square Enix’s latest masterpiece debuted with over 700,000 units sold in the week between April 6 and April 12.

It also propelled weekly PS4 sales to almost 80,000 units combined between PS4 and P4 Pro, which is a level of sell-through that hasn’t been seen in ages.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake has been one of the most-anticipated games in Japan for years, so it’s not surprisingly to see it sell so well in the country.

It’s also interesting to see that it pushed lifetime PS4 sales to over 9 million in the country.

One last intriguing detail is that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 joins that large group of games that sold more on PS4 than on Switch despite the large difference in the installed base in favor of Nintendo’s console.
