Most know Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase mainly for his work on the Final Fantasy series, but he was also the producer of Parasite Eve’s third game The 3rd Birthday.
Asked whether he’d like to see more of Parasite Eve in the future during an interview, Kitase-san seemed to be keen on the idea.
Of course, he also mentioned that he isn’t aware of current plans.
“Yes, it’s true that for The 3rd Birthday I worked on the PSP version. The characters are very rich and deep, especially Aya Brea.
I don’t know of any plans right now, but it would be a waste not to use these characters.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the Parasite Eve series, it’s an action JRPG survival horror hybrid that debuted in 1998 for the original PlayStation, followed just one year later by a sequel on the same platform.
Fans has to wait 11 years for another game, The 3rd Birthday that Kitase-san produced, which released for PSP in 2010.
Since then, the series has been completely dormant, with no official word from Square Enix about the possibility of bringing it back.
We only saw a new trademark a couple of years ago, but that’s usually a defensive move and doesn’t really reveal much about a company’s plans besides the fact that they still want to retain ownership of the name.
