Today Square Enix made an announcement on the Final Fantasy VII Remake official Twitter account, talking about the first game of the series and planning for the second.
As we reported yesterday, Producer Yoshinori Kitase mentioned that the team is continuing to plan and outline the volume of the second game while they finish the first. That being said, they do have their own internal schedule and plan.
Kitase-san also explained why they decided to focus on Midgar for the first game. You can find the full string of tweets below.

The first game of the Final Fantasy VII remake will launch on PS4 on March 3, 2020. No other platforms have been announced so far.
