Ready At Dawn had created three virtual reality games that were published by Oculus Studios since 2017—Lone Echo, Echo Arena, and Echo Combat—and is currently developing Lone Echo II.

“In addition to setting the bar for narrative VR experiences, Lone Echo re-wrote the playbook for VR movement mechanics with the debut of Ready At Dawn’s signature innovative continuous locomotion system and full-body IK (inverse kinematics),” said Facebook Head of AR/VR Content Mike Verdu in the announcement post. “The zero-g mechanic is used throughout the Echo Games franchise and lends itself well to VR beginners and competitive VR esports alike.”

Before working on virtual reality titles, Ready At Dawn developed games for the PlayStation platform, including Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and The Order: 1886.

The company said Ready At Dawn will retain its current offices in Irvine, California, and Portland, Oregon while gaining resources from both Facebook and Oculus Studios.

The studio will continue to develop Lone Echo II, and Facebook said it is not announcing future projects at this time. The company also said it is “exploring many ways to accelerate VR” when asked itself if it plans on acquiring more studios.
