Rumors circulated earlier today with Razer PR lead Will Powers sharing the gist of a mail he received mentioning that the show was canceled.

A few minutes ago the ESA itself confirmed to IGN that the information was indeed accurate, but the organization plans to bring E3 back “reinvigorated” both physically in Los Angeles and online.

“We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience.

We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023.”

Earlier this year, it was announced that the show was to be held exclusively online due to remaining concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be gaming events this summer, as Tokyo Game Show in Japan and Gamescom in Germany are still happening.
