Series creator Yuji Horii, Dragon Quest XI Producer Hokuto Okamoto, and Director Takeshi Uchikawa were in attendance to make a few additional announcements.

First of all, the game is getting a tie-in manga, and it’ll be drawn by a big name: Fairy Tail artist Hiro Mashima. Below you can see his artwork for the hero’s faithful companion Erik (Camus in Japanese).

On top of that, Square Enix is also releasing a series of Bring Arts action figures: while the hero has already been released in Japan, Erik is coming on February 15th, while the other members of the main cast are planned for future release.

Last, but certainly not least, another livestream will be broadcasted on YouTube and Nico Nico in January. Speaking of January, Horii-san also mentioned that we should look forward to Jan 1. Unfortunately, he did not mention what kind of surprise awaits on that day.

In the meanwhile, you can also find a lovely Christmas card at the bottom of the post, and watch the first trailer.

The game has already sold four million units worldwide on PS4, 3DS, and PC, so it’s quite likely that Square Enix is eager to enlarge that number with more sales on Switch, possibly counting on many double dipping for the sake of portability. It even won a User Choice Award at the PlayStation Awards earlier this month.

Dragon Quest XI S for Nintendo Switch will release sometime in 2019 for Nintendo Switch. If you don’t care to wait, the game is currently available for PS4 and PC.
