Dragon Ball FighterZ got a new info drop from Bandai Namco giving us some details on Piccolo and Krillin, and how the online battle system will work. Piccolo and Krillin were confirmed in the latest issue of V-Jump a few days ago, though it was a no-brainer that two Dragon Ball perennials like them would make it on the roster.
Dragon Ball FighterZ: Piccolo and Krillin’s fighting styles
Piccolo will be a more technical character in Dragon Ball FighterZ (think Yoshimitsu from Tekken). His expandable arms offer him a lot of versatility, and he has various techniques to break his opponent’s guard. He also has great Ki potential and can fire powerful beams quickly. You can create a stronger attack by long-pressing the button as well. Piccolo excels when combining his Ki abilities with physical combos, so you’ll have to get used to moving in and out of close quarters with your foe quickly.
Krillin is a less technical character but requires greater precision. He doesn’t have the reach and power of Piccolo but can make up for it with speed and a range of versatile techniques. Krillin has the power of the powerful, long-range Kamehameha to take down enemies before they can close in, and his Afterimage technique can help him turn a foe’s advance to his advantage. You’ll also have the chance to recover health using Senzu Beans, and Dragon Ball fans will be happy that he retains his signature unblockable attack: The Destructo Disk (the Kienzan for our Japanese friends).
Dragon Ball FighterZ: Online mode details
Online Battle mode in Dragon Ball FighterZ will start in the FighterZ lobby. There players can meet up and challenge others to fights, or access matchmaking. You’ll also have the ability to communicate with something called “Z-Stamp.” Use facial expressions, and watch your matches in replay mode.
Dragon Ball FighterZ comes out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in early 2018.
