The lack of a very particular multiplayer mode in the latest DOOM game will be reconciled with today’s free update, which will bring the classic free-for-all Deathmatch mode that was so influential in the original game all those years ago. Its every man (or DOOM guy) for himself in Deathmatch, as players collide in the gory glory that the game offers up in order to emerge victorious.
joining the likes of Team Deathmatch, Warpath, Domination, Clan Arena, Soul Harvest and Freeze Tag, the standard Deathmatch mode and Private Matches will be added with the upcoming Free Update 3. Private Matches will allow players to create and host their own matches, with the option to select what modes they play and which maps they slaughter each other on. Other options include Whether or not power weapons or demons will be involved in all the carnage, as well as adjustments to the game’s time/score limit depending on the player’s preference.
The DOOM servers are currently down for the maintenance needed to bring in these modes, and should be available very soon. The last update, Free Update 2, came back in July which added several features including new multiplayer modes, a public matching browser and the SnapMap feature.
