Destiny 2’s Second Faction Rally Begins November 7, Rewards Revealed

Changes to earning faction tokens as well.

Bungie announced in its weekly blog post that the next Faction Rally in Destiny 2 will begin Nov. 7 until Nov. 13 and showed off new rewards for each faction.

Like the first one, players pick one of three groups to join and earn faction tokens by completing activities. The tokens can be turned in for reward packages containing exclusive weapons and armor. The faction that earns the most, with Dead Orbit winning the first Faction Rally, can sell its special weapon for 1,000 glimmer to its faction members and 50,000 glimmer to non-members.

One big change for the second rally is the rate at which players can earn faction tokens. Senior designer Tim Williams explained that Bungie investigated how the “activities motivated gameplay” alongside “time invested compared to the rewards.” The studio made the following changes in the 1.0.6 update that rolled out on Thursday:

  • Strikes now reward Faction Tokens at a range of 5 to 9 Faction Tokens per completion (up from 3 to 7)
  • Nightfall now rewards 10 to 18 Faction Tokens on first completion per character
  • Completing Heroic Public Events now rewards 5 Faction Tokens (down from 8)
  • Destroying enemy resources no longer rewards Faction Tokens
  • Opening Lost Sector chests now rewards 3 Faction Tokens for each fireteam member

“Strikes should feel more worthy of the time you invest in them,” Williams wrote “We noticed that players felt Lost Sectors were useful, but disliked the fact that they couldn’t enjoy them with a fireteam, so we moved the faction tokens from the destructible items to the chest at the end of the activity.”

Williams noted that the destructible items will still be available as a daily milestone, and that Bungie is continuing to improve Faction Rallies over time through feedback.

In addition to the Faction Rally changes, the 1.0.6 update also fixed an issue with the Bureaucratic Walk emote clipping into the game world and made changes to some Crucible modes. The PC version received a 1.0.6.1 hotfix for clan rosters not appearing properly and “an issue causing gradual performance degradation over time.” Check out the full Destiny 2 patch notes here.
