Dear Esther was first released on PC back in 2012 and was highly praised for its beautiful graphics and compelling narrative. Console gamers will therefore be pleased to learn that Dear Esther is now making its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game puts players in the shoes of a troubled man who must explore a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides and figure out the events that led to his wife’s death.
According to Video Gamer, the console versions will also feature a director’s commentary mode which will add a commentary from members of the team who created the game. The game will also feature some small tweaks to cater for the new platform.
“We’ve always known that Dear Esther would continue its story,” said Dan Pinchbeck, The Chinese Room, “and we’re delighted to be writing that story with Curve Digital. Dear Esther is a hugely important game to us, so it’s great to know it’s in very capable hands – we’re excited to see the reaction from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.”
It’s great see that console gamers will now be able to enjoy this gem.
