Daymare 1998 may not have set the world on fire when it launched last year, but the Resident Evil clone certainly has its niche of fans who crave more of the third-person, OG survival horror loop made popular by Capcom’s iconic series. Luckily for them, developer Invader Studios has announced Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam), set to launch next year.
From today’s announcement trailer and an accompanying press release, it seems we’re in for a bigger and better version of the first game. A synopsis promises “a perfect mix of fierce and deadly enemies, hardcore action game mechanics, environmental puzzles, a chilling soundtrack, plenty of exploration and massive doses of concentrated horror.”
New features include a revamped, simplified interface and inventory management system, as well as a new scanner that allows players to scan for environmental puzzles. Also, it sounds as though Daymare’s equivalent of the crimson head zombies from Resident Evil 1 are set to make an appearance!
Here’s a brief overview of Daymare 1994 Sandcastle’s story:
“Step into the shoes of special agent Dalila Reyes, a former government spy now in the service of a unit called H.A.D.E.S. (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search), and get ready to enter the most advanced experimental research center in the United States of America. Be careful, though, because in the darkness of the desolate, labyrinthine depths of the military research center there is something creepy and lethal awaiting you!”
