Crunchyroll has revealed which anime proved the most popular to stream on the platform over the course of 2018, with shonen titles like My Hero Academia, Black Clover and Boruto leading the pack.
Broken down by region and then country, Crunchyroll’s data shows which anime were streamed the most over the course of 2018. The data is in turn shown through an infographic for each region.
In the Americas, My Hero Academia’s third proved a juggernaut of popularity going into its third season with the majority of countries in both the North and South streaming it more than any other show. It also proved popular in the U.K. and Australia, though it didn’t dominate their regions quite as fiercely.
Meanwhile, the ninja antics of Boruto saw heavy support across Asia, Europe and central Africa, with Asia in particular staying glued to the adventures of the seventh Hokage’s son.
Black Clover rounded out the top three with support from countries around the world. In particular, the coastal countries of Africa and Saudi Arabia were enamored with the hot-headed Asta and his drive to become the Wizard King.
Outside of shonen shows, the romantic mech drama Darling in the Franxx found strong support in eastern Europe and the Middle East, while Oceania saw a diverse mix of most streamed shows that included Megalobox, Cells at Work and The Ancient Magus’ Bride.
