Ah, the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Announced back at E3 2015, Square Enix has been somewhat inconsistent with their drip feed of information and gameplay footage. Today, we’ve learned of yet another tidbit involving the game’s development process. According to an interview with producer Yoshinori Kitase, it seems that series music composer Nobuo Uematsu is working on the project as well.
“I’ve worked on numerous titles with Uematsu-san, and while I’m currently working on the production of Final Fantasy VII Remake, it’s actually been since Final Fantasy X that I directly worked with Uematsu-san. So when I first went to ask Uematsu-san to come work on the music for the remake, I thought he would give me the cold shoulder since he had already left Square Enix and found success.”
Uematsu is responsible for composing some of the most iconic music tracks in the Final Fantasy series, so it’s definitely heartening to hear that he’ll be working on the remake. Hopefully this means we’ll get a remastered soundtrack with more live instruments instead of just samples.
