Today’s news comes by way of a Tweet from CD Projekt Red, which includes the hackers’ ransom note.

The hackers state they already have access to the source codes for The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, and Gwent. Further, that documents relating to accounting, administration, legal, HR, investor relations, “and more” would be sent to their “contacts in gaming journalism.”

The result of that information, the group claims, would see CD Projekt Red’s reputation “go down the shitter even more” and a further dive in the company’s share price.

In its official response, CD Projekt has stated it will “not give in to the demands nor negotiate with the actor, being aware that this may eventually lead to the release of the compromised data.”

The company is working with law enforcement and IT forensic specialists to investigate the issue.

Today’s hack comes after a troubling period for CD Projekt Red following the shaky launch of its much-anticipated action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077. The underwhelming performance of the game at launch led to widespread criticism from players and critics alike, eventually resulting in its removal from the PlayStation Store and an unprecedented number of refunds.
