Twitch streamers from all around the world will be revealing gameplay footage of Borderlands 3 on May 1, and Gearbox has announced on their official blog that they’ll be letting you in on the action, giving you a chance to win some in-game loot with the help of a new Twitch extension called ECHOcast.
The ECHOcast extension, should you choose to enable it once you link your Twitch and SHiFT accounts, will allow you to interact with livestreams of your favorite Twitch superstars in ways you never thought possible and help you get ahead on loading up your in-game inventory before Borderlands 3’s release in September.
While watching livestreams of the gameplay reveal, ECHOcast lets you look at the Vault Hunter profiles of the streamer you’re watching, giving you an overview of their class and level, as well as their weapons inventory and skill trees.
ECHOcast also gives you the opportunity to participate in Rare Chest Events, where random winners will receive the same in-game loot that you watch a streamer find in rare chests, which are feverishly guarded by powerful enemies. Once the streamer opens a rare chest, you have 30 seconds to join the event.
You don’t have to link your Twitch and SHiFT accounts to in order to use the ECHOcast extension — unless you don’t have the latter account, then create one — but failure to do so excludes you from participating in Rare Chest Events.
You can find out even more about ECHOcast at the official blog post from Gearbox, on the Borderlands website.
Borderlands 3 releases September 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
