PC and console loyalists will be pleased to hear that Diablo Immortal is only one of at least two Diablo projects that Blizzard is confirmed to be working on.
Recently, two job openings were posted to the Blizard Careers website—one for a lead character artist, and another for a lead concept artist.
Importantly, both listings state, “We’re working on a new, unannounced Diablo project.” This completely rules out Diablo Immortal, as it was announced at Blizzcon 2018.
What hasn’t been announced yet, but has still made the news, is Diablo 4. Reportedly, Blizzard recently canceled the development of its StarCraft FPS to focus on Diablo 4 and what many are calling “Overwatch 2”, which is described as a more PvE-oriented Overwatch game.
As reported by PCGamesN, Le Monde (French publication) recently revealed that employees at Blizzard in Paris were shown a presentation that features Diablo 4. Le Monde is a subscriber-only publication, but an administrator of the Icy Veins Forums has posted the full article.
Google translates this article to read that “Blizzard Entertainment teams have already had the right to a presentation of the highly anticipated Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch is in the pipes,” and neither will come out before 2020.
Diablo Immortal is in full swing, and the lead character artist and lead concept artist roles are ones that are necessary to fill early on in a game’s development. Unless Blizzard has a third Diablo title up its sleeves, these job postings are almost surely confirmation of Diablo 4‘s development.
