Just last week, Bethesda came under heavy fire for some stealth nerfs implemented in Fallout 76 that were not at all mentioned in the game’s patch notes. This resulted in quite a bit of backlash from the fans, including the usually optimistic Reddit community.
It seems as though Bethesda has heard the fan outcry, and the developers have resolved to be more transparent in their patch notes for future updates, according to their latest announcement.
‘In an effort to be more transparent with our patch notes, below is a full list of changes included in Tuesday’s patch. For the upcoming patch – and all future patches – our goal is to deliver accurate, comprehensive notes. If we miss something, we’ll work to get it right and deliver the information to you as quickly as we can. We’re also looking to share a list of known issues to give you a better sense of what we’re working on.’
It’s a good first step for sure, and considering how much controversy Fallout 76 has generated since its launch, Bethesda will certainly need every foothold they can get with the community.
Clear and transparent patch notes are important, as it’s the community that will keep this game going, and will hopefully help nudge the development team in the right direction as well.
Fallout 76 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
