Developer Bluehole has stated that its hugely popular battle royal shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has sold more than 4 million copies since its launch just 3 months ago, making an impressive $100 million in the process. The game is currently available on Steam Early Access only.
Battlegrounds is an island survival game reminiscent of dystopian science fiction movie, The Hunger Games. Players parachute onto a small island and fight to the death using weapons and vehicles found scattered across the sandbox. The game forces players to stay mobile by shrinking the map throughout each round. The final moments of each game typically end in manic showdowns.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is will arrive on Xbox One later this year in a similar beta capacity. A full version is expected to release on both console and PC soon after.
