“Battlefield V Grand Operations is an experience that will be playable at launch and as part of Tides of War. As we are still in development of the game, things change and what we disclosed in a blog that we released at EA PLAY, when we revealed Grand Operations, has been updated to reflect that.”

The original story is as follows:

Electronic Arts have taken to the Battlefield V website to offer an update on the highly anticipated Grand Operations Mode in Battlefield V. Fans expecting to drop into Grand Operations Mode on Day 1 may find themselves disappointed, as EA pointed out that the mode will drop “shortly after launch”.

“Grand Operations is the ultimate multiplayer experience, designed to seamlessly showcase the maps and modes of Battlefield™ V. Each Grand Operation presents a powerful narrative experience inspired by historical events. Shortly after launch, you will be able to take part in the first Grand Operation. In the months that follow, you’ll continue the fight across other unseen and unplayed battlefields of World War 2.”

Grand Operations Mode is an evolution of Operations Mode from Battlefield 1 which is an hour long extended match that lasts across multiple maps. Each round lasts an in-game day and upon completion the narrative of the “operation”,or the match, progresses.

The Battlefield franchise’s successes is entirely built on it’s multiplayer, delaying such a key feature will possibly prove to be a turn off to some players.  Couple that with the upcoming release of Origin Access Premier that promises players early access to complete EA titles, will something like the lack Grand Operations in Battlefield V sway potential membership holders?

Battlefield V is set to release on October 19 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
