Assassin’s Creed Movie Animus Might Make it into the Games

Art imitates art.

The Animus, as it’s seen in the new Assassin’s Creed film, is quite different to what players are used to seeing in the games. Ubisoft is apparently quite interested in using the new design in the game series.

In the film, the animus is shown as a gigantic mechanical arm which lifts the subject into the air and is replete with holographic lights that represent the memories being accessed by the user.

The film’s director Justin Kurzel, in an interview with IGN, said:

“We’re really excited about it. Actually, Ubisoft were really interested in it. They thought that the potential of it to actually interact as gameplay was really interesting. So they were talking about maybe evolving it even further for possible games for the future. They’ve talked very seriously about making the Animus more active, and they were really, really excited by, especially, those scenes where you see Callum fighting [inside it].”

The film’s star, Michael Fassbender also spoke of Ubisoft wanting to utilise the design saying, “That’s great. When you can get cross-pollination going on like that, it’s perfect.”

Ubisoft haven’t released an Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, but perhaps in the next one, we will see this new design make the jump.
