Today, the Japanese branch of United Airlines announced with a press release the opening of its own official island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Switch.
The island will be available for a limited time until March 31, 2022, and it’s administered and was created by a group of United Airlines Japan employees from multiple departments.
The Dream Address you can use to visit is DA-8504-9712-6474 and below you can check out a few screenshots.
The concept is to provide a virtual experience of air travel now that many are unable to go abroad due to the COVID pandemic. Visitors can enjoy a look at various United Airlines products, the airline’s initiatives to protect the environment and in favor of diversity, fairness, and inclusiveness.
It’s also intended to solidify communication with the younger generations, especially in Japan.
The island is shaped like an airplane and in the Travel Experience area you can go to the airport, experience the check-in, and board an airliner, taking pictures in your seat or in the cockpit.
You can also find United Airlines uniforms for pilots, flight attendants, and even ground crew, and take them with you as souvenirs, on top of rainbow-colored T-shirts that symbolizes United’s support for the LGBTQ+ community.
The T-shirts are in the Social Activities Area where you can also enjoy info on the airliners that operate using 100% SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) for one of its engines and the Ouverture supersonic jet that will also use SAF exclusively and that United will adopt in the future.
Lastly, the Resort area lets you visit a beach resort reproducing Guam, that United Airlines has connected to Japan for over 40 years. There you can find beautiful beaches, iconic night markets, waterfalls, nature, and Guam’s famous Latte Stones.
Visitors will be welcomed by two characters, a captain and a flight attendant. The captain is portrayed as female, once again to represent United Airlines’ dedication to diversity, fairness, and inclusiveness.
