How to Get a Horse – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

If you’ve got your priorities straight, one of the first things you’ll want to do in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is get on a horse and run free. To help you do that, we’ll walk you through how to get a horse.

You’ll encounter horses throughout your journey — wild ones that need to be calmed and tamed. You most often will spot them in groups in grasslands.

You’ll first need to sneak up behind a horse, then once you’re close enough, you’ll be able to press A to mount it. It will immediately start bucking, and you’ll have to rapidly press L to soothe it. You can also head into your inventory, select a food item, and hit Eat. This will feed the food to the horse and calm it quickly.

Now you’ll be able to ride freely, but the animal isn’t entirely yours yet. Bring it over to a stable and talk to the stablemaster, who will let you pay 50 rupees to register your horse. You’ll be able to see its stats, name it (Epona), and finalize the registration. Now the horse is yours until it dies, and if you’re not too far, you can call it over with a whistle.

And that’s all you need to know to get a horse in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Stay tuned to Twinfinite for more tips, guides, and walkthrough.
