Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links: How to Unlock Mako Tsunami

In Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, Water-based attribute decks are some of the most powerful decks available. A large reason for their domination is due to the character Mako Tsunami and his incredibly powerful Water-based deck skills. However, unlocking Mako can seem rather difficult as the game doesn’t guide you to it. That’s why we’re here to tell you just how to do it.

Because Mako is a hidden character, the mission to unlock him will not show up in your list. Instead, you’ll have to perform 150 tribute summons which will cause Mako to appear at the Gate, available to be dueled. This will also add his Character Unlock Missions to your mission list which are definitely no pushovers.

There will be three missions you’ll have to complete before acquiring the ability to play as Mako. The first mission has you using 20 Deck Skills in Duel World mode. One of the easiest ways to complete this is to play as a character that allows you to start a duel with a field spell up such as Yami Yugi with Power of Dark or Seto Kaiba with Peak Performance and then play 20 duels. The second mission requires you to perform six Normal Summons in a single duel. Simply create a deck with high ATK monsters and cards with the ability to destroy them, such as Altar for Tribute. Play against any Level 10 character in the Gate and you should have the mission done in no time.

For the final mission, you’ll need to win a single duel against a Level 30 Mako Tsunami. This can be done either at the Gate or just around Duel World in general, but be warned, Mako is not an easy opponent. The most important things to watch for when dueling him are the cards Big Wave Small Wave, as it allows him the ability to summon his highest level monster cards very easily, and Yomi Ship, which will destroy any monster it does battle with. Once Mako is defeated, you will unlock the ability to play as him and subsequently obtain some of the strongest deck skills in the game.
