The Impossible Lair is a brand new Yooka-Laylee and it really builds on the promise shown by the original game. This is one of those tricky moments I mentioned, where you need to follow a few specific steps to get to get an item you need.
When you’re into chapter 7 in the game, you’ll see a Beetallion on the roof of the Pumpkin’s house. However, you aren’t able to reach it from the outside, but it makes it pretty clear that you can use the swirling portal next to it to get there
Getting the Beetallion on the Roof in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
The first thing you need to do is access Chapter 7’s second form, which is called Production Path – Panic and will be after you beat it once.
At the end of playing the level the first time, you’ll see some bars blocking the way, which is the entrance to the second form of the level. Just beat the level the first time and you’ll come out the other side of those bars.
About halfway through this second form level, after the third vertical laser you come across, you’ll spot a trap door.
What you need to do to get to the Beetallion is use the Buddy Slam move to drop down and find a secret exit to the level.
Rather than just ending the level though, the secret exit will see you pop out of the portal onto the roof of the house, right next to the Beetallion you’re trying to pick up on the roof.

- Beat Chapter 7 once to unlock its second form.
- By the third vertical laser, halfway through the level, use Buddy Slam to drop down to a secret exit that spits you out of a portal on the roof.
