In case you aren’t up to speed, Amiibo figurines are small toys sold by Nintendo that you can scan to earn rewards in virtually every Nintendo game. In the case of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, there is only one Amiibo that earns you a sword skin (Shulk), while others net you “Collectible Sets” which only feature items/ingredients such as Lucky Spice, Tasty Sausage, and Thousand Carrot.

How to Get the Monado & Equip It

The best Amiibo reward is earned by scanning Shulk, a protagonist from the first Xenoblade Chronicles. You’ll get their Monado sword skin to use in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which can be equipped by any Swordfight class character in the game, such as Noah.

Once you’ve scanned the Amiibo, follow these steps: Pause menu (X) > Characters > Clothing > press Y to open Attachments menu > select Monado.

You’ll then have the skin equipped.

How to Scan Amiibo in Xenoblade Chronicles 3

For those who aren’t sure where to begin, fear not: scanning Amiibo in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is simple and more or less follows the same procedures you will be familiar with from other Nintendo games.

To do so, cycle to the Pause menu (x) > System > Amiibo > then it will prompt you to scan an amiibo.

In the case of the Collectible Sets, once you have scanned your Amiibo, the ingredients will appear all over the ground, so exit out of the menu and pick them up as you would any other item.

That should give you everything you need to know about how to scan Amiibo and what they do in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. For more useful tips and guides on the game, search Twinfinite or check out the links below. We’ve also recently published a detailed review of the game.
