How to Kill the Chosen in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen

Recommended Videos

Meeting the Assassin, Hunter, or Warlock in battle can be really intimidating in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. They’re relentless in their attacks on your squads while out on the battlefield. It’s no wonder you’ll want to know how to put these weirdos down for good. It’s definitely not by just killing them over and over in missions, I’ll tell you that!

You need to work up your influence with the different factions, first and foremost. This way, you’ll unlock the Covert Action to hunt for the Chosen and uncover their stronghold. The missions come in three parts, with them increasing in difficulty to undergo. You need high level soldiers to send on them, so make sure you level them up and keep this in mind. Once you complete all three of the hunt missions for their appropriate Chosen, you’ll uncover the stronghold’s location. Then, it’s simply a matter of launching that mission and making sure you accomplish it (you only get one shot).

If you’re wondering the easiest way to take out the Chosen, here are some tips for that, too.

Assassin – Make sure your Reaper delivers some attacks on her. As they’re the adversary to this Chosen, Reapers have the capability of doing extra damage. Additionally, she’s weak to explosives. So, naturally, a claymore thrown at her by your Reaper will ensure she dies extra fast.

Hunter – Templars are great against this one. It’s a little annoying, due to the Hunter’s love of staying far away from you, but being able to slash him up with a Templar will make sure he goes down really fast. His “marked shot” attack is also, really, really easy to avoid.

Warlock – As you may have surmised by now, using a Skirmisher to annihilate the Warlock is the best way to get the job done quickly. Keep in mind that normal attacks from any soldier do damage to all three Chosen all the same, but their respective adversaries will always do a lot more damage.
