World of Warcraft Legion: How to Summon Nightbane in Return to Karazhan

Run as fast as you can!

With Karazhan’s return in World of Warcraft: Legion’s patch 7.1, we’ve also seen the return of many bosses that make the dungeon both famous and fun such as the Opera Event and Moroes. Also making a return is the original Karazhan’s hidden boss, Nightbane. And much like Nightbane’s former self, parties will have to summon the boss using less-than-standard means. Don’t worry though, as we’ll walk through all the steps needed to spawn the powerful dragon.

As you proceed through Karazhan, you’ll likely notice large glowing crystals called Soul Fragments. In order to summon Nightbane, parties will have to interact with all five Soul Fragments placed throughout the lower half of the arcane tower. The trick lies in the fact that all the fragments must be clicked on within a certain amount of time.

As your team enters the dungeon you’ll notice the phrase “The strange chill of a dark presence winds through the air.” appearing in the chat log. This signals that the timed event has begun. You’ll have eight minutes to click on the first Soul Fragment located in the audience section of the Opera Hall (which means defeating the Opera Event). If done properly, everyone will receive a buffed named Medivh’s Echo that has a six-minute duration. Each subsequent fragment interacted with from then on will add a stack to the buff and five more minutes added to the duration.

The five fragments can be found in the following areas: Opera Hall audience, the room just before Maiden of Virtue, right after defeating Moroes, inside the The Menagerie, and right after killing The Curator. After collecting all the fragments, your buff will change into Medivh’s Presence, which gives the group five minutes to go to Nightbane’s boss room located on the tower’s outside through a door immediately to the left of where you entered the dungeon.

With that, Nightbane is summoned and you’ll be able to collect loot and an achievement upon his defeat. And don’t worry, if the team wipes to Nightbane he’ll remain in that location until his defeat. You won’t have failed or need to do any other timed event until the dungeon resets the following week.
