With Moon Knight Season 1 ending at quite a dramatic note, a question among most fans is whether there will be a Moon Knight Season 2 or not. The six-episode first season introduced us to a mentally troubled Steven Grant/Marc Specter who becomes the Fist of Khonshu, delivering justice by the night.
While Moon Knight was completely disconnected from the current MCU and featured no familiar face, it could pretty much change if the season finale is anything to go by. This brings us to our question will there be a Moon Knight Season 2?
Everything We Know About Moon Knight Season 2
At the end of the final episode of Moon Knight Season 1, we finally see the third alter of Steven and Marc – Jake Lockley. The underworld limo driver escorts cult leader and former Ammit avatar Arthur Harrow out of an asylum and shoots him in the head in the back of a Rolls Royce.
While it may seem like Khoshu finally got his vengeance, the final scene leaves us with more questions than it answers. Given how things between Khonshu and Steven and Marc ended, how does Khonshu get hold of Jake Lockley and how is this killer limo driving guy in the first place?
Given how the first season ended, we might get to see and learn more about this in Moon Knight Season 2. Another interesting thing that somewhat gave away that Moon Knight Season 2 might be happening is an official tweet explaining the trailer for season one’s finale accidentally used the phrase “series finale” before replacing it with “season finale”.
In a conversation with Deadline, Moon Knight series episodic director and EP Mohamed Diab was asked about his return to work in season 2 to which he said “we don’t know if there’s a next season.” He further added, “Marvel doesn’t go with a conventional way, so even if they like the character and want to extend the world, it could be season 2, it could be a standalone film, or he can join another superhero’s journey.”
Diab also said, “I’m kept in the dark, just like the fans. We never discussed it being a season 2, but one day there’s going to be an expansion, but I don’t know how it’s going to look like.” So it seems like Marvel for now is wanting to take things slow. However, given the success and appreciation received, the idea of Moon Knight coming back for Season 2 doesn’t seem far fetched. And that’s everything about the will there be a Moon Knight Season 2?
