Will There be a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2? Answered

Will the Edgerunners fade away after season 1?

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime launched to stellar reviews earlier this week. This hyperviolent and ultra-stylized interpretation of Night City uses the backdrop of the original game to tell a cautionary tale about the cyberpunk lifestyle. However, there are only ten episodes (each with a runtime of thirty minutes). So with that in mind, Will There be a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. Unlike a lot of other Netflix shows, Edgerunners does not have a green light for a season, and this was recently confirmed in an interview conducted by Famitsu.

Indeed, when CD Projekt Red‘s Japan country manager, Satoru Honma, was asked if the incredibly positive critical and user reaction to season one had led to the possibility of a second season, he responded there were no plans to continue the story.

Ultimately, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners serves as a companion piece to Cyberpunk: 2077, rather than an ongoing show. Of course, we had initially hoped that the positive reception to the show might change that narrative, but the recent confirmation has brought those hopes to an abrupt end.

That all being said, we’re not giving up just yet. With the Cyberpunk franchise firmly back in the spotlight, who knows what the future might hold for the franchise as CD PROJEKT RED tries to keep fans interested while they work on future projects in the Cyberpunk universe. We’ll keep you updated with the latest news here at Twinfinite.

That’s everything there is to know so far about whether there will be a season 2 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. To keep up with any major updates about the game and Netflix show, stay tuned to Twinfinite.
