Impractical Jokers has been going strong for nine seasons, aging like fine wine and getting better over time, and for good reason. Watching four friends who compete to embarrass each other—Sal Vulcano, James Murray, Brian Quinn, and Joe Gatto—is incredibly addicting. It helps that every single member is very charismatic, despite being put in uncomfortable and humiliating positions. It’s definitely the finest example of a hidden camera reality show, but when the series reached new heights, Joe Gatto left. The question is: why did Joe leave Impractical Jokers?

Joe Had a Very Good Reason For Leaving Impractical Jokers

Joe left Impractical Jokers to focus on being a father. In a heartwarming and heartbreaking post on Instagram, he detailed his thoughts on the matter:

“Due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away. Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”

While Joe Gatto is no longer a part of the show, and no one will ever be able to fill his shoes, the other three members found a fun and engaging way to keep the show going by bringing in guest stars like MethodMan, Jillian Bell, and David Cross, to name a few. The show has had guest appearances in the past, but it now plays a much bigger role.

There you have it: the reason Joe left Impractical Jokers. Can you blame him? He’s brought laughs to millions of viewers for the past decade, on a show that’s consistently funny. He’s more than earned a break from the limelight.
