Just a year after re-releasing the latest entry in the franchise, Koei Tecmo returns with a remaster of its 2008 title, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. A game that never made its way to America when it was released on the Wii, Koei Tecmo is finally ready to bring it to a whole new legion of players. Here’s when Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse finally arrives in the West.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Western Release Date
Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will come to the West on March 9, 2023. This will be 15 years after the release of the original game in Japan.
It’s worth mentioning that the game is titled Project Zero: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse for the European market. Koei Tecmo has always been a little weird with titles.
Although it was announced at the newest Nintendo Direct showcase, Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse will not be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Koei Tecmo has confirmed it will also release on PC, as well as both current and last-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles. With this being the first proper American version of the game, a release across numerous consoles will help expand its reach to the widest audience possible.
That’s all we’ve got so far regarding the American release date of Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse. We’ll have more for you as it becomes available, but until then, check out Twinfinite’s own Giuseppe Nelva’s interview with Fatal Frame series director Makoto Shibata.
