The White Lotus is back for a second season with a new set of characters and locations, having left Hawaii behind for beautiful Sicily. From all the new characters, the marriage between Harper (Aubrey Plaza) and Ethan (Will Sharpe) is looking like one of the most important of the show. Many will discover Will Sharpe in this role, but he’s been a known actor, writer, and director in England for a while. Here’s what Will Sharpe’s ethnicity is in The White Lotus.
Will Sharpe’s Ethnicity in The White Lotus, Explained
In the premiere episode of the second season, Harper says to his husband Ethan that they’re Cameron (Theo James) and Daphne’s (Meghann Fahy) “white-passing, diverse friends”. Why does she say this?
In the show, Will Sharpe is half Japanese and half American, although in real life, he’s half Japanese and half English, as his mother is from Japan and his father is from England. Sharpe was raised in Tokyo until he was eight years old, and then returned to England where he attended Winchester and later Cambridge University.
Aubrey Plaza herself is of Puerto Rican descent, as her father is from Puerto Rico, and her mother is of Irish and English descent. So it makes perfect sense that her icy, uncomfortable character says something like that to his husband while talking about their Caucasian friends Cameron and Daphne.
That’s the answer to what’s Will Sharpe ethnicity in The White Lotus season 2. You can find more information about the series at Twinfinite, including our theories of who dies this season, where was the new season filmed, and all the Survivor cameo appearances in the show so far.
