Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope Glowing Mounds Explained

Many will notice the glowing mounds on their travels, but there isn’t really an explanation about how to get their treasures. Initially, your first guess would likely be to jump and ground pound that area, but this isn’t a regular Mario game and you can’t actually jump in the overworld of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.

The glowing mounds actually have you perform another move that references some of Mario’s old abilities in some of the 3D Platformers. All you have to do is stand over the mound then spin the control stick in circles to get Mario to spin and get coins out of the mound. Mario lets out his signature “wahoo” and you are quickly rewarded a nice bundle of coins.

Unfortunately, once you have obtained the coins from a mound, it will be empty for the rest of the game. The mound will stick around but it will no longer glow and coins will no longer come out of it if you do the same spin move as before.

Fortunately, it is a nice little call back to previous games and gives long-time fans of the series a little bonus gift. Just don’t spend it all in one place.
