Riot Games is aware that its latest update is causing an issue, and it has actually suspended the update temporarily. Well, so it says, anyway — I downloaded an update for the game two hours ago at the time of writing, which was well after the Tweet you see below that stated it had been rolled back.
In any case, the issue is apparently being caused by Vanguard, Riot Games’ anti-cheat system which operates at the kernel level of your PC’s operating system.
For those who are experiencing crashes that are bricking their PCs, there are two fixes until Riot Games issues a new patch: first, to simply uninstall/reinstall Vanguard itself, as you can see explained above.
The second potential fix is to update the FACEIT app if you have it installed since it apparently clashed with the new Vanguard update.
I expect a more permanent solution to the issue will be issued by Riot later today, so we’ll have this post up to date with new information as and when it’s announced.
