Valheim released this month and has proven to be a great survival RPG. As is often the case in the genre, building a decent base is vital to surviving. However, it’s not as easy as putting some wood on the ground in Valheim; a little extra work is required. Here’s everything you need to know about how to level ground in Valheim.
You’ll need to level the ground in order to start building a base for you to call home. Without a suitable spot, you’re simply not allowed to build anything more than a glorified tent.
How to Level Ground in Valheim
The first thing you’re going to have to do is get a hoe tool. If you don’t already have one in your inventory, you’ll need to gather five wood and two stone and then head to a workbench to put it together. It’s this tool that allows you to level ground throughout the world, therefore letting you build a base.
Before using the hoe, you’ll need to ensure that the area you want to level is clear of obstacles like trees and rocks. You’ll have to cut trees down to get them out of the way before doing anything else, but you can’t do anything about the rocks. Hopefully you’re somewhere without too many of them, because you’ll have to build around them otherwise.
Then, simply select the hoe from your inventory and use it on the patch of clear land. It won’t be as flat as you might expect, but it’ll be enough for you to build a simple base, complete with four walls and a roof. At least it’s somewhere safe for you to call home and keep some of your stuff safe.
