Uncharted 4: How to Get All Journal Entries

uncharted 4, PlayStation 4, PS4, define, board games, nathan drake

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the end of the line for Nathan Drake. No longer will we be able to keep up to date with his treasure hunting adventures and on again off again romance. Sadly, this beloved series is done. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a ton of replayability, thanks to how many collectibles are in the game! Throughout Uncharted 4, there are Journal Entries that you can add to Nate’s trusty notebook. These are triggered in specific areas, be it by spotting something or by picking up some notes.

They differ from the look of Treasures, as they’re usually just a circle for you to spot, go up to, and interact with. Nonetheless, we have you covered with the locations for every Journal Entry you can find in the game. Keep an eye out for them!

Journal Entries begin at Chapter 8, so don’t worry about scouring through each and every one of the early chapters. Each one is simple to find but they are able to be missed if you just run through.

Chapter 8: The Grave of Henry Avery

There are two Journal Entries in this chapter, and they are in the same area relatively close to one another.

  • The first is located by some dug-up graves near the entrance of the cemetery. Simply walk up and examine them.
  • After unlocking the entrance to the tomb below, continue on to the three large crucifixes (you can’t miss them). Approach Sam and talk to him about the statues to get your second entry.

Chapter 9: For Those Who Prove Worthy

There are another two Journal Entries available in this chapter as well. With one being automatic, and another requiring a bit of interaction.

  • Continue through the level as normal and you’ll come across statues and a pirate hanging in a cage. Nate will automatically enter this sight into his journal.
  • The second one requires you to first finish the puzzle with the bucket of water. After activating the switch to open the door, interact with it again to obtain an amusing Journal Entry.

Chapter 10: The Twelve Towers

Chapter 10 kicks things up a notch by housing four entries for you to collect.

  • When inside the first tower, you will come across the sigil of a dragon sitting on the floor. Nate will automatically draw it.
  • In the second tower Nate will find yet another sigil, this one belonging to Adam Baldridge, and enter it into his journal.
  • When you reach the last tower, locate the draw bridge. On the ground nearby is the crest of a horse which is the third of your Journal Entries.
  • The last entry in Chapter 10 is found at the base of the signal tower. Don’t stand too close though, just approach and examine.

Chapter 12: At Sea

You’ll have to put in a bit more leg work in this chapter if you want to obtain all of Uncharted 4’s Journal Entries.

  • When you reach the large island, head for the beach. You’ll find a cross on the shore that will serve as an entry.
  • After you find that, look for a sunken ship. You’ll have to take a boat to reach it, but simply make your way over, get onto the land nearby and move closer. It will eventually trigger the entry.
  • Continue until you reach the large mud hill. Slide down and jump to the ledge ahead and search for statues located on a far wall.
  • When inside the planning room, you’ll find a table with a town sculpture. That’s your fourth entry for the chapter.
  • The final one is easy to find. Simply interact with Avery’s statue.

Chapter 13: Marooned

One of these is easy to miss, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled.

  • There is a cave behind the large waterfall you’ll come across. Enter it and find the skeleton alongside a message.
  • After the segment where you climb out of the river, you’ll come across a bunch of skeletons, including one hanging up above. The hanging skeleton is your next Journal Entry.

Chapter 14: Join Me In Paradise

Once again, Uncharted 4 is back to making you work for your Journal Entries.

  • While playing though this chapter you’ll come across a blacksmith with a barn across from it. Check inside that barn and inspect the horse bones.
  • Continue on until you reach the market and search behind it to find a large tablet with a rule on it. Examine it.
  • On the other side of the same market is an Avery statue. Look at the back of the statue to find a clue that Nate will jot down in his journal.
  • Near the statue are some stocks. Talk to Sam while he’s examining them and you’ll get a sketch opportunity.

Chapter 15: The Thieves of Libertalia

Chapter 15 has only one Journal Entry. Thankfully, it’s an easy one to find.

  • Move the chapter normally and you’ll eventually come across the head of a Captain Avery statue lying on the ground. Examine it for your Journal Entry.

Chapter 17: For Better or Worse

After a journal-less Chapter 16, the seventeenth chapter has two for you to nab.

  • When you’re almost at the second elevator Nate will notice a large, broken water wheel worthy of an entry.
  • Once the whole ordeal with the waterfall is over and done with, make your way to the end of the river and check out the bridge.

Chapter 18: New Devon

The final two Journal Entries in Uncharted 4 can be found in Chapter 18, well before the end of the game. Once you nab these you can relax, unless you’re also looking for the Treasures. If that’s the case, then keep your eyes peeled.

  • Once you get to the flooded house, look for a vase that is covered in moss. Nathan will draw it in his journal.
  • The last Journal Entry is found in Captain Tew’s home. Head to the dining room and examine the table.

There you have it, every Journal Entry available in Uncharted 4 is now yours. After grabbing the very last one you should receive your Trophy.
