Unlocking New Game Plus in Tunic

To unlock New Game Plus, you’ll need to successfully beat ‘The Heir’ boss fight once you’ve reobtained all of your powers from the Hero’s Grave.

You can start the boss fight by revisiting the warp hub, where you can hop on the different pedestals to be transported to the various areas of the world.

When you arrive here, you want to step onto the one in the very center of the hub, and press A.

By doing so, you’ll be transported straight into the arena where you’ll need to beat The Heir not once, but twice, where the second phase is considerably more difficult. Make sure you pack those health potions!

Upon beating The Heir, a short cutscene will play out before you watch the credits for the game. At this point, a ‘Game Over’ screen will appear where you can then choose to return to the game to find any missing pages for the instruction manual, or begin New Game +.

Note that if you don’t choose to begin New Game + at this point, you’ll need to beat the final boss again to watch the credits roll and reach this screen. From our time in the game, there’s no option to start New Game + any other way.

What Carries Over in New Game +?

By beginning New Game Plus in Tunic, you’ll carry over most of the items you acquired on your first playthrough, minus the Colored Keys and Hero’s Grave Items that you obtained as part of the main story.

That’s because these are ‘story’ items, so to speak, that are unlocked and are used to ‘direct’ where you’ll go next. If you had all of these from the beginning, there’d be nothing stopping you from simply heading straight to the final boss.

That’s everything you need to know on Tunic’s New Game Plus mode. For more tips and tricks, be sure to search for Twinfinite or see more of our coverage on this titular fox’s epic adventure below.
